In addition to the fight in the streets and against the state, there is a need and responsibility to do the profound work of reclamation of self and culture. As we imagine a new way, we must transform along with it.
Black and brown communities are under-resourced and overlooked, yet hold the weight of the most complex individual and collective traumas because of the bodies we inhabit. The current systems of care are not meant for us to be well, but work to generate profit for corporate interests.
Our bodies have historically been used as test subjects and exploratory projects for the progression of medicine. Black communities are still facing major health disparities and not catered to in modern medicine. Conjure channels the Black ancestral traditions of "making a way out of no way" to save our selves. Conjure strives to model a village culture and practice a regenerative care economy that meets the needs of our community and addresses the effects of the medical industrial complex.
Conjure is...
an invitation to be in a community of exploration and practice in finding our power and using it to transform ourselves and community.
a container to express our dynamic gifts and talents to address the complex nature of Black healing and evolution.
an intervention to provide a community of care, support, and encouragement
